A collaborative film and photo project
Client/collaborator: Nina Elder
With support from the Speranza Foundation, National Performance Network Documentation & Storytelling Fund and the McCarthy – Kennicott Historical Museum
It Will Not Be The Same, But It Might Be Beautiful is a multimedia investigation of change focusing on objects that have been exhausted by use and transformed by time. This project illuminates that what remains — even through environmental demise — can inspire wonder, help us understand the past, and embolden resilience in the future. I collaborated with artist Nina Elder to produce a video and some stills that depict individuals handling fractured rocks or “puzzle stones.” The project was shot in the field during COVID and has become an expression of what holds people together.
